A Libertarian Response to York County Commisioners

| Comments

In a vacuum I cannot endorse swapping one tax for one or more taxes. However, the advantage of eliminating property tax would be people being able to finally own their property without lifelong rent to the state and without UN Agenda 21 Land Value Tax(LVT) mumbo jumbo.

To Commissioner Chronister

Unfortunately, even if school tax was eliminated we would still be paying other property tax so in effect we would be trading one tax for 2-3 taxes as proposed in this article. I suspect that Commissioner Chronister may have loftier personal goals in spending much more time in Harrisburg getting to know everyone. Time will tell on that.

“The property tax system which has been funding education for decades is pushing the elderly out of their homes and causing the budget crunches that almost shut down York City at the beginning of 2012, he said.” Commissioner Chronister has taken a fundamental truth and combined it with what could only be true in a vacuum but is very misleading in the context of his topic; school taxes. Many people are being pushed out of their homes by property tax. This is absolutely true. However, York City’s budget has nothing to do with school taxes. In fact, the “reason” York City almost shut down is York City Mayor C. K. Bracey made a clear statement that she would shut down the city at 12:01 AM January First 2012 if York City Council did not approve the budget she wanted with outlandish tax increases. It was the Mayor’s willingness to bully whoever she needs to to get her way. This being nothing new from C. K. Bracey. I do condemn Commissioner Chronister for trying to pimp such a dark stain on York for his own unrelated agenda; very poor taste.

To Commissioner Hoke

I commend Commissioner Hoke’s stated intent of the “fiscal house needs to be in order”. I can only hope that is stated intents of fiscal responsibility make it’s way to York City Mayor C. K. Bracey, her administration, and those on York City Council that would spend more than even what is taken from the residence for pet projects and special interest. I also Hope to see more than words from York County Commissioner Hoke.

To Commissioner Reilly

As to Commissioner Reilly; No. Whether it be money taken from people by the Federal government and handed down to York or taken from the residence of York County you have no right to spend other people’s money on buying farms. You want to preserve a farming community in York County? Try creating a more friendly legal climate for farmers. Privately start a movement(with your own and volunteer funds) to educate and encourage new generations of farmers. You are not in your position to push pet projects at the tax payers expense. You have been elected to your position to oversee basic services provided equally to all residence of this county and to do so in as cost efficient and responsible a manner as you can accomplish; for the people.
