19th District Up for Grabs as Incumbent Loses Support
Concerns are growing with regards to Congressman Todd Platts’ voting record. Just this past week, conservative blogger Erick Erickson called for Platts to be replaced, calling him a ‘restrictor of free speech’ and ‘pathetic on education issues’. As many of you already know, we here in the 19th district have been keen and consistent in pointing out these very same shortcomings.
I completely agree with Erickson’s piece “Returning an Obscure Congressman to Permanent Obscurity” because Congressman Platts has been nothing more than a passenger in our Federal legislature.
Mike Koffenberger - Libertarian Candidate U.S. House of Representatives District 19 PAHe will have a challenge in the Fall of 2012 however, as I will be running against him as a Libertarian candidate. To my knowledge, he has never submitted one bill to return our lost liberties, regain our fiscal sanity or return our government to its Constitutional limitations. The only bills I do see submitted as a primary sponsor further regulate our lives, and it is for all of these issues the main reason why I am challenging him next year.
While running as a Libertarian in Pennsylvania is not easy due to draconian election law, as the amount of signatures needed to get on the ballot is based on arbitrary previous election results, I will be on the Fall 2012 ballot. No matter what happens with Congressman Platts in the primary election, he will have a challenger to better represent the citizens of our district.
Congressman Platts is considered by many in the District as a nice guy. While that may be true, it is his voting record, as detailed in this blog, that is atrocious. For the past few weeks, and until the election next fall, I will be submitting weekly “Platts Reports” that detail my thoughts on his votes for the previous week. Take a look at my most recent report. In the event that Congress is not in session, or there are few votes to discuss, I will be revisiting some of Congressman Platts’ earlier votes that have contributed to the problems our Country has been facing. These reports are archived and published on the website of the York County Libertarian Party.
For Liberty,
