York County Libertarian Party

Thank You!

It has been a few weeks since the 2011 election and yet it seems like forever as Manuel, myself and others have not missed a beat in preparing for next years campaigns. We already have two very strong candidates for the 2012 season with one or more other potential candidates still mulling their options. There are still races we would like to fill so if you have been riding a fence about committing to a campaign please contact us and we will be happy to sit down with you and discuss what is required for a campaign and what you can expect. As we are the party of principle an interest does not guarantee a spot on the Libertarian ticket but we are eager to hear from you.

One of our committed candidates has already publicly announced some time ago and he is Mike Koffenberger. As you most likely determined from his weekly posts he will be running against Todd Platts for the “19th” congressional district. As the lines are being redrawn yet as we speak this district may not even be titled the “19th” once the redistricting is completed but regardless of designation it will cover most all of York County and Mr. Koffenberger will be campaigning for it. As such, despite any other races, we can virtually guarantee that we will need help in your area.

This year will be the York County Libertarian Party’s biggest undertaking yet. Our need for volunteers will pale anything we have involved ourselves with previously. We need each and every one of you!

There are many ways you and others can contribute to a campaign. Every one of them are meaningful contributions toward not only furthering the individual candidate(s) but the principles of libertarianism themselves. As examples:

We will need volunteers to gather signatures on nomination petitions. There are several ways we go about this requirement and at least one method should be close fit for any volunteer. We will be supporting our candidates at many speaking functions. This will include volunteers to hand out pamphlets and to accurately take down contact info for those that may want more info on a candidate/party or may wish to volunteer themselves. We may be doing door-to-door flyers. This is something we will coordinate in large groups and/or can be done by individuals in their own neighborhood. We also need coordinate many fundraisers. All of these positions will require those who can give a little more and possess the ability to organize to act as local coordinators. Any time you can come forward is never too late but the sooner we know about you and your interest in contributing the better we will be able to match you up to those tasks of which you are best suited. Even if it’s an hour a month please consider being part of our success. We can be contacted here .

Now, to everyone that contributed to Manuel and my own campaigns for the 2011 season: THANK YOU! As we build up this party and work towards putting principled first impressions of “Libertarian” in the public’s world view it is truly the support staff that will determine our success. I wish to give a shout out in particular to Bill Kohler who stepped up and took some of the burden off our shoulders when we needed it most. I also wish to extend special acknowledgment to those election poll workers that before Nov 8th had never been involved in the process before; many giving all day towards our success. For those of us that have been in this game the sacrifice becomes expected but for those with no previous ties to the candidates or the party you have taken powerful first steps. To all who are proving that sacrifice and commitment are truly traits that our forefathers and foremothers bestowed upon us……Thank You.
